Camp Concept

RÆDY™

The best camp in the world

Yes, we really do believe that the concept, competence, and ambition we bring to every camp will lead to the camper having the best camp experience they will have - ever. We feel we have the feedback from players and parents to back that up.

The devil is in the details, as the saying goes. We feel that our instructors, our planning and joyful but top level execution will provide unique experiences for campers and coaches attending our camps.

A standard RÆDY™ camp includes:

- Basketball knowledge where we emphasize the modern game, the way it is played and the skills that make a difference

- Knowledge, insights, and drills for better basketball athletes, yet again taking the best of the modern concepts for training the body to withstand training, avoid injuries, and become more efficient on the court

- Mindfulness, where we provide a very serious insights into the potential of mindfulness exercises to create a better fortitude for life in general and basketball in particular.

- Nutrition and general health insights

- A structure and role model attitude on how to behave towards peers, people, and one self

An important trait in a basketball player is the ability to be ”coachable”; one component is to be able to take ”criticism” the right way.

When you receive criticism – feedback or instruction are probably better words – it is NOT about you as a person. Instead of feeling badly treated, see it as someone spending energy on trying to help and improve You and someone that actually has Expectations on you (and that is a good thing).

Your reaction when you are being feedbacked/instructed should be to listen, accept, and embrace it instead of rejecting it, make excuses, or feeling down.

Stay focused all day – no matter if someone is watching or not.

Missed shots or lost balls when dribbling does NOT matter. Skilled trainers and coaches do not care about the outcome but focus on the attempt and how you try to learn and improve, not the specific outcome right now.

Help each other. In drills when you are perhaps 2 and 2, watch your friend and help her by resonating what the trainer might have just told her to focus on.

Understanding the process of developing skills

During the camp we will work on a number of skills. Often, we meet players who have not in their home club settings experienced training which focus o their own detailed bio mechanics and skill execution. Although our coaches are very aware of to harbor a positive environment, the detailed on the individual can sometimes lead to the misconception that the player is being criticized and become uncertain.

When working with skills, the goal is first to explain in detail WHY a movement should be executed in a certain way and then drill HOW to do this as perfect as possibly and then USE it in different settings/actions.

Skills training aims at learning to execute movements as optimum as possible, to prepare a player to be able to execute and play efficiently also on higher and faster levels of the game. The focus is therefore on DETAILS. This means that You as a player will probably hear a lot of times to change something ... being "bugged" with it.:) This comes from a place of caring. Very few things you do will be executed perfectly and perhaps you will be corrected all the time. This is skills training from a place of wanting the best for you and without the nagging, we would not be doing our job.

Prepare to get feedback in our camp and prepare to bring that in as a positive thing which with the drills we provide and your ambition after the camp can propel you to become a better player.
